Happy May Day!
In the tradition of roadside magic, May 1st marks the start of the summer season, also known as the rolling season. This is celebrated through a fire festival called the Forty Yard Burn. The festival is led by Skip Wytches, whose role is similar to that of a rag-and-bone man and an occult archivist. In broader English folklore, May Day celebrations are linked to the fertility of spring and the beginning of summer. Jack, in the green courts, represents Flora, the goddess of blossoms.
