My Memory
As a photographer, I find that my childhood memories continue to inspire me in my work. I remember my childhood vividly, and one of the fondest memories I have is playing with my friends, and running barefoot in the lush forests near my village. We would spend hours playing and exploring the natural beauty around us. The forest provided us with everything we needed. We would be fishing in the river using traditional methods, gathering vegetables grown in the heart of the forest such as sweet potato leaves, cassava leaves, and papaya leaves, and gathering branches for each of our households.
As a child, I didn't realise how lucky I was to live in such a beautiful natural place. The forest was my playground, and I spent countless hours exploring every nook and cranny. I remember the sound of the river, the rustling of the leaves, and the chirping of the birds. These memories are deeply embedded in my memory, and I carry them with me wherever I go.
Now, as an adult, I find myself living in the heart of a bustling city thousands of miles away from what I consider my true home. Although I love the city, I often feel a sense of longing for the natural beauty I experienced in my childhood. As a photographer, I try to capture the essence of nature in my work, hoping to bring a little bit of that beauty to those who may have never experienced it. My childhood memories inspire me to find beauty in unexpected places and to capture it in a way that is both authentic and timeless.
I know that I can't visit that place anymore, as I now live far away, and my circumstances have changed. However, I still hope that one day I can return. In the meantime, I visit places like lakes, parks, and forests to find peace for a few minutes before returning to reality.
